The Alumni Symposium last Tuesday was very interesting. Then again it was another one of those "Oh crap what am I going to do after I graduate??" kind of things. Apparently make lots of money. There seem to be a lot of opportunities in this area for CS majors, and I would totally be out there scouting out possible jobs if I were staying in Charleston. Fortunately, most of their advice is applicable everywhere, such as making sure you love what you want to do and being prepared to learn new stuff on the fly.
I definitely think this class is helping us gain more hands-on experience with current technology and in communications among and contributions to the open source world, and that seems to be a good stepping stone to the real world.
